3 Tips for Moving Around Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is one of the most joyous holidays for Americans. However, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season can also make things somewhat stressful for people from all walks of life. Adding the innate stress of moving to that equation only makes things more hectic.
Here are some tips for surviving a Thanksgiving season move – and enjoying your turkey in your new home!
Try to Plan Ahead
Making your moving plans as early as possible will mean you won’t be stuck with whoever and whatever is available to help with your relocation in November. Make moving arrangements – and dinner arrangements for the big day – as far in advance as you can, so they’ll already be in place and take one more thing off your to-do list.
Celebrate on the Go
Just because you’re moving doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate. Even on the road, there are fun ways to enjoy the holiday. Stop in at a family-style restaurant for a holiday dinner without the stress of cooking and cleaning up. Have your kids create paper decorations for your car or hotel room along the way. If you make it to your new home in time for turkey day but not in time to actually buy a turkey, enjoy takeout around the table. Remember, it’s about the celebration, not about the details!
Remember to Give Thanks
Even in this hectic season of your life, it’s important to remember all that you have to be thankful for. As long as your family is together, what or where you’re eating doesn’t matter. By next Thanksgiving, you’ll probably be well settled into your home and ready to put on a traditional feast. And if not? Give thanks for your family, food – and your moving team! – anyway. There’s so much to be thankful for, especially once your move is over!
